Hi, I'm Kelsey.

I'm so glad you've stopped by. Feeling that you can trust and open up to your therapist is the most important factor in successful counseling, so I wanted to share a little about myself so you could see if you think we might be a good fit.

I coached collegiate men and women for ten years before deciding that I wanted to be a counselor. What I love about both coaching and counseling is getting to know people, their stories, and helping them navigate through all of the different parts of life. One thing I learned in my years as a coach, is that if you feel better, you will perform better. It is from this angle that I start work with my athletes. I help athletes build mental strength so they can bounce back from injuries, perform better under pressure, and most importantly, enjoy their sport! These are life skills that serve us beyond the court, field, course, or pitch.

In my counseling work in general, I try to meet people where they are. Sometimes we need to sort through the past to move forward in a meaningful way. Other times it is helpful to have a forward focus, which might mean a more brief, solution-focused approach. In all of my work, I center my clients and try to talk about power, control, and meaning in their lives. What you can expect from me is an empathic ear, an open mind, and actionable steps to make positive changes going forward, when you're ready for that.

I believe the only thing we really have control over is how we view and react to what happens to us. It can take practice to find an outlook that feels true, meaningful, and also helpful. This is where I find a lot of the work with my clients. Hence the name of my practice, New Perspective Counseling.

I keep a relatively small caseload so that I feel I can provide meaningful and effective sessions. You can also find my profile on Psychologytoday.com if you wish to read more, or reach out to me through my Contact page to set up a free 15 minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.
