My philosophy on counseling is that we can make salient and necessary changes to our lives if we dedicate the proper time and energy to do so. Sometimes that means we have to honor and learn from the past. Other times we need to focus on the here and now to move toward a different and better future.

I feel that having an objective person listen to your story opens the door for validation, reflection, and change. I believe my job as a counselor is to listen, notice patterns, and help you reach the goals you set for yourself. I use an eclectic blend of person-centered therapy, reality therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy to center the people I work with in their own narratives, and help them move forward in ways that benefit them the most. At times I utilize humor in session, but also feel that I open a space where anything can be discussed without judgment.
Before becoming a counselor, I was a collegiate coach for nearly a decade, and I have really enjoyed my time working with athletes. As a counselor, I have worked mostly with adolescents and young adults, though I like working with all people, and of all ages. In my time as a counselor, I have gained experience with people facing depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, body image and mild disordered eating, trauma, peer and relational issues, stress and more. I enjoy being a generalized clinician, as I focus a lot on validation, control, and purpose in my practice. I find this can help each person, no matter what they are facing, to a more positive path forward.
